DEATH PENALTY: HUMANITY VS JUSTICE (Annisa Rizkyta)

Since long time ago, death penalty had been becoming an alternative way to punish people for committing a felony. Yet, there's a controversion among society because some of them think that death penalty violates human right. Before that, let's clarify what the definition of death penalty is. According to Britannica.com, death penalty is an execution of an offender sentenced to death after conviction by a court of law of a criminal offense.

For this, I absolutely agree with the application of the death penalty for certain crimes which are considered severe such as slaughter, premeditated murder, corruption, and for drug dealers. If people say that capital penalty breaks human right, they have to think twice because the perpetrators of crimes have violated many others' human right too. We must put aside pity, for the sake of justice.

Death penalty isn't about violating human right, yet giving justice for people whose human rights are violated. the death penalty will be a more effective punishment for giving the defendant a sense of deterrence and making others fail to act crimes.  Imprisonment alone is not enough for the defendants to commit serious crimes because they may still have access to comfort and convenience even in prison, and it is possible that they will repeat their mistakes in the future.

There is no need of the death penalty moratorium because it will burden the defendant's heart.  they may be depressed and end their own lives before being executed by the court. so the defendant must be executed as soon as possible after the judge's decision is final.

In closing, I want to assure you that the death penalty does not infringe anything as long as the target is right.  As the saying goes, blood is paid blood, lives are paid lives.  moreover the law has regulated the death penalty in law.  Until 2006 there were 11 laws and regulations that still had the threat of capital punishment, such as: the Criminal Code, Narcotics Law, Anti-Corruption Law, Anti-terrorism Law and the Human Rights Court Law.  This list can be extended with the presence of the Intelligence Bill and the State Secrecy Bill. There is no longer any reason to suspend the death penalty.
